Feskott 2010

I've been really lazy to blog about anything recently but I feel slightly inspired to kick start my dying blog . I'll blog about the KI classes another time but rite now its time to blog about the Sports Day in KTT.

Somehow this year I got the chance to take part in it again.(my seniors last year missed the event) When Maegyvear told me during the holidays that us KI students would be able to take part in FESKOTT, I was obviously overjoyed. On the other hand, the attitude or should I say enthusiasm of my fellow KI friends sort of poured cold water over my very 'semangat' to participate. Even Christine didn't take part this year due to her ailing knee :( (You're OLD WEI!!).

Nevertheless, all these things did not deter me.... (wakaka..this sounds so wrong)REPHRASING SENTENCE : Nevertheless, I still took part because I had given my name to my lecturer and my dad had only just bought me a pair of new spikes.

The Build Up
This time, the training wasn't as fun as the previous year as I did most of it on my own. One week before FESKOTT I joined Maegyvear (my junior who's a fantastic sportsman himself) and we ran to the Stadium. I was really amazed by his stamina because never before has anyone followed me all the way from college to the stadium at a quick pace. We were in the same house so the both of us planned to take different events to increase our house's chances of winning. In fact the only time we went against each other was during the larian mesra.

'D' DAY
1st event: LARIAN MESRA,8am
This was the same as the previous year except that I knew that I would be facing tougher competition from my juniors. Well, I was right of course. At the start of the race, Victor(another one of my juniors who has such a great passion in sports as well) really sprinted like HELL. I wouldn't advice anyone to do that in a long distance race because most of the time you tend to fade away at the finish. So Maegyvear and me kept a safe distance from Victor and we tried our best not to let him run off to far away. The idea was to let him lead till 'Great Slope' and overtake him somewhere there. Maegy and me were pretty much running side by side until we entered the stadium where i started to push abit more to win the race. Victor finished in a strong 3rd place and credit must be given to him too because he had the legs to maintain his strong pace till the finishing line.

I could not save much energy during the Larian Mesra this year because of the stiffer competition. I vividly remember last year when I ran the same event the second place runner was almost 500m behind me and I did not push really hard.
It was just a small gap between me and Maegyvear in the end. MUCH MUCH closer then the previous year.

800m
My second event came just shortly after the end of larian mesra.I had that bad feeling that they were rushing to complete all the events again *just for the sake of finishing off everything* .I always hate it when they do that. It was the same in school. At the start of the 800m, I felt good and quitely confident of winning it again. I believe that this is my favourite event on the track as you can pace yourself and just follow the pacesetter and in the final lap just PUSH and beat him.

So the 800m got started with a pathetic whistle (seriously, KTT should at least get a gun to start events) and I was quite relaxed during the first lap. I remember a junior leading the way but as soon as it was the final lap, I began to close down on him. I think I remember overtaking him somewhere around the 550m mark and Ashwin was behind me so it was really good for the Red house. Indeed we finished 1-2 and it was a job well done for the team. At this moment, I still felt that I had plenty of energy in reserve which was important as I still had 3 more races to run. -.-''
I was very well behind at the end of the first lap.

The super tiny red figure there is me. Sprinting towards the finishing line

4 x 400m
My team was actually quite strong this year. Ashwin,Hazwan(a diploma student),me and Maegy.
I was the 3rd runner and Ashwin and Hazwan did well as the first two runners.Hazwan however did not use any shoes and was fading away during the last 100m. When I received the baton I was in 2nd place and had alot of work to do to catch up with the leader. The Lord somehow gave me an extra boost and I managed to pass the leader and extend the lead. So it was up to Maegyvear (our final runner) to maintain our lead and I was really confident when the baton was in his hands. In the end , our team managed to win quite comfortably and I believe that this was perhaps the most enjoyable race i had that day.

After the 4x400m was over, it was only 10.15am .Those in charge really did an excellent job in fast-forwarding everything. They should at least take into consideration that the students that are running in the events are mostly the same people and let us rest more. But Oh well..Lets just leave that to one side.
After that, I went back to KTT in Ashwin's car (he was kind enough to let me 'tumpang' throughout FESKOTT). Guess what I did when I went back to college?
STUDY ANATOMY!!! HAHAHA~! MY TEST WAS THE NEXT MORNING.CRAZY~! I KNOW.
Well, I read a few pages of anatomy and decided to lie down and rest for the afternoon's events.
I had 2 more events to go ...both sprinting events (100m and 4x100m)

4x1oom
After waiting in the energy-sapping heat for 2.5 hours, my event was finally about to start. I was hoping that we could win this race thus I'll have more confidence leading to the final race which was the 100m. However, my team could only finish second.I was really dissapointed and felt really tired after this race. Did I have enough in my reserves to win the 100m??

100m
THE ANSWER WAS NO~! sadly, i lost the 100m final. I was leading for 85-90m of the race but i just faded away in the end and my teammate from the red house won the race. "The mind was willing but the body just could not PUSH anymore.'' I was extremely dissapointed as my dreams of winning both the shortest distance race and longest distance race was shattered. I don't think I'll ever race in the 100m again and who knows, this may even be my last race ever. I'm seriously thinking of taking it easy in sports from now on because my right knee never really recovered since I injured it last November.

Oh, and in the end I was named the Olahragawan again. Not too bad considering that my knee was hurt throughout FESKOTT. AND another thing, exam was cancelled or rather postponed to a few days later as we were all given off on monday.
TATA for now...i think i'll end with a few pictures taken after the whole event was over...
