World Player of the year??

CHRISTIANO RONALDO- What Liverpool fans think of him.

Last night, I was watching Manchester United vs Sunderland. It was the most one sided match that i've seen in ages. Something I saw during that match prompted me to write about my ' favourite player'.

It was halfway through the second half and Ronaldo seemed to be caught by a Sunderland defender. He was holding his ribs/hips for some time but 5 minutes later I definitely saw him dribbling again.Another 5 minutes later, he totally misskicked the ball and straight away held his hips in agony. What playacting....he was then substituted much to my pleasure.(I immediately texted Selvan after seeing that incident, couldn't help it)

ok..straight to the point. What do Liverpool fans(best in the world of cause) think of him?

#Quote from Ronaldo " I am the best player, 2nd best player and 3rd best player in the world"
Liverpool fans- Yea right!...he always goes missing during big matches and doesn't seem to have much impact while playing against top defenders.

from Liverpool's point of view... best player in the world: Steven Gerrard,2nd best: Fernando Torres,3rd best: Jamie Carragher

Steven Gerrard

Fernando Torres

Jamie Carragher

#Ronaldo was recently voted as European player of the year.
Liverpool fans- Wrong award to give him indeed. He should have been awarded the Oscars ,best actor.Probably for 2 years in a row now.

#General view of football fans: Ronaldo is extremely skillful. The best in the world.(I'm getting bored hearing that Ronaldo is the best in the world)
Liverpool fans- All he can do are stepovers...other than that, Ronaldinho and Messi beat him flat. His freestyle football skills are just an exact copy of Ronaldinho.

#Ronaldo thinks its alright to be extremely arrogant as he is ' the best player in the world'.Many football pundits say he has a right to be arrogant.
Liverpool fans- OMG!!..this young lad from Portugal is just vain. Alright, we have to admit, he is quite good, but nobody has the right to be arrogant no matter how good you are.You always have to keep your feet on the ground.Example of humble players- Steven Gerrard.=)

#Ronaldo thinks he is really handsome.Best looking footballer perhaps?
I'm not going to comment further, You judge for yourself.:p

#Ronaldo thinks that he is bigger than Manchester United. He may be an important player, but no one is bigger than a football club. Shown clearly by how he almost abandoned Manchester United in the summer. He should have shown more respect to the club that nurtured his talent.
Liverpool fans- Not our problem, we just don't care!!

haih...i can go one saying many things about Ronaldo, but I don't want my blog to be contaminated by him. I'll write on the 'true' WORLD FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR very soon.

Till then, You'll Never Walk Alone.

Where Monkeys and Pigeons Thrive =)

I have always wondered how so many people could climb up Batu Caves during Thaipusam and how people manage to pray with so much distractions on that festival. What would happen if someone loses his/her footing while climbing up to the temples. The probability of a person tripping is high considering that there are 272 steps to climb up and down gain (544 + at least a hundred more as there are more steps to climb once you reach the top). Will it cause a 'dominos effect'?

I went there on the 3rd of Dec just to take a look.I have been staying in Selangor for 18 years and this will only be my second time climbing up Batu Caves.( Actually, I went there because my grandmother's sister came down from India so my dad just wanted to show her the place where more then 1.5 million people come each year during Thaipusam)

As you enter the premises of the temples, one thing that will surely catch the eyes of all visitors will probably be the colossal statue of Lord Murugan. I've never seen such a formidable looking statue.(I've not gotten a chance to see statues overseas so hope you can understand my excitement)

Just had to take a picture of the statue. My grandma's sister with me and my brother.(I googled and found out that this statue is the tallest statue of Lord Muragan in the world-42.7m,not bnad)

Another thing that caught my attention was the large numbers of pigeons at the foot of the stairway.Pigeons are my second most hated birds( nothing beats the crow of cause) because of their dropping. Extremely disgusting!!

See what I mean.I wished I had boots on that day.Yuck!!They should stop feeding pigeons

Enough about pigeon faeces. Next: Monkeys. The monkeys there were climbing up and down the steps and there were even more once you reach the top ( entering the temples). One should think that the monkeys there will be extremely friendly as they have alot of exposure to humans. Well, I really don't think so.I saw numerous people being attacked/chased/disturbed by these monkeys while climbing up.I guess they must have been provoked by humans.

They are just adorable aren't they? ;)

272 steps up.Not that tiring the honestly. But I don't know how people can do it with a kavadi on their back.

Those who have Acrophobia are advised not to look down.Very steep.

After climbing to the top, we just spent a while in the cave.I must say, it was very beautiful indeed. It must have taken millions of years to form or something like. I particularly like the sight of water dripping down from the top into the cave.

Pictures...

1st Semester Ends =)

Time flies. Its already the end of the first semester. After Deepavali holidays, I didn't go home at all. So i calculated that i stayed in KTT for 25 days straight( an amazing feat for me). I don't think i'll ever do there is study.Just a few highlights during my record-breaking stay =) want to stay that long without going home again but i have to say,the weekends at KTT were productive because the only thing one can do is to study.

# Volleyball court demolished :(
date: 3rd November 2008.

So sad. A new futsal court will be built there. I am supposed to be happy right? football being my favourite sport and all. Well, somehow im not. For the first few days after the demolition, all of us were kind of lost. Evenings were so boring in this already dull place. Thank God for the badminton court. We conquered the court and started playing badminton every other evening. About the new futsal court, I heard rumours that those who want to use the court next time have to pay for it. I also can't imagine how everyone is going to fit inside a small futsal court. There are already 6 groups of guys playing football in the evenings here. We will probably see fights soon in KTT I suppose over who gets to play in the court.
The proposed plan of the futsal court.Yea right...i don't even think the land is big enough for this. Conclusion : FUTSAL COURT= BAD IDEA!

# Evelyn's Birthday Party

7th November 2008
This is probably one of the craziest birthday celebrations in KTT thus far. Definitely the messiest. Thank God her housemates Sharon, Christine and Sylvia didn't buy eggs. Flour, water and chocolate cake are already enough to cause maximum damage.
OK..so there we were, a group of 30 people hiding behind the abandoned shoplots in front of KTT waiting for the birthday girl to arrive.Poor Evelyn =) , all she wanted to do was to spend the evening jogging with her housemates. LOL..But this is wat happened to her instead ...

I didn't have the heart to throw anything at her.She is such a sweet girl.No way am I throwing anything at her. After attacking her, it was total carnage =)Flour flying here and there. Cake being smashed at people's face. Even shaving cream was used as a weapon. This was what Shawn, Selvan, Joel, Beh and me brought to the party.

We added many different things inside the water from shampoo and washing detergent and ikan bilis and curry powder.
I guess I'll just show pictures of what happened next.

# Manchester United Loses To Arsenal!! (2-1)

I just have to write something about football.KTT has been a great place for me to watch football matches.Man U can't seem to win whenever I watch them play. I must be their unlucky charm or something.Long may it continue! Its always a pleasure for every Liverpool fan to watch Manchester United lose in the presence of so many fans. You get to rub it in them and I suppose we should all enjoy it while it lasts.

#All of us found a great place to study. Though it is illegal to study in the classroom(cr), its a perfect place. It has everything...comfortable chairs and tables, air cond, the SILENCE!, etc.At first, most of the tangga 11 residents used to study at the same staircase itself. 1 day however, we played a trick on the guard and it didn't turn out so well so I guess he must have got angry so he locked the cr after 7pm from that day onwards. Not a problem for us. There's always Tangga 2 and 3(tangga 3 will never be locked because of the spoilt doorknob)So, this is where I usually spend the mornings and afternoons during weekends at KTT.

#Life in 11-2-A1 would never be complete without encounters with Pak Cik Parang(PCP),our beloved neighbour who lives directly below us. I remember one night after coming back from the CR, Dhana accidentally dropped his bottle of water on the floor.(yes...just an empty water bottle)If it were to happen in any other apartment, it would not be so significant to be written in a blog. But, we're PCP's neighbours. Something exciting is bound to happen right? About 40 seconds after Dhana's bottle fell, we heard a loud kick on the door. At that time, we thought Dhana dropped something again in the kitchen but he came out of the kitchen telling that PCP kicked the door. So...YAY!! something to brighten up our lives after studying. Lucky for us, Dhana locked the door after he dropped the bottle after sensing that our neighbour would make an unwelcomed visit over such a petty thing. I guess you all can see how stupid this guy is. Any normal human being would probably have just cursed and gone back to sleep. But not PCP, he loves the walk upstairs. Just an excuse to get out of his house I suppose.

That is not all. The next encounter has got something to do with Solex locks and tissue paper.haha

#The mystery of the locked grill(LOL)

Imagine yourself being locked inside your own house or apartment from morning to about 2 in the afternoon.Any sane person studying for an exam can go crazy. Why were we locked inside our own house? Well, we believe its the work of PCP again.(Oh boy! This guy is multi-talented)

The night before we found out that we were locked in, PCP suddenly popped up at our doorstep.(His evil stare, bloodshot eyes and millitary haircut would scare anyone , but not us..LOL..we have seen him too many times I suppose. He would probably make Shawn yawn in boredom)

Joel was just about to leave our apartment after using the oven to make his burger when PCP came.Lucky for him, he didn't unlock the grill yet.

PCP: Buka pintu!!! cepat!

Joel: (glancing back) err....Shawn??

PCP: Siapa baling tissue atas kereta pak cik????

(confused looks on all of us) what the hell is this mad guy talking about? After that, he was crapping about some tissue on top of his car.I was concentrating on the Liverpool game so I didn't really care about what he was saying.Probably the seniors had thrown something on his car. After all, their exams were just over.PCP said something else but I don't really remember much. Just threatening us.zzzzz. I just can remember his last words...

PCP: 1,2,3,4,5( whoa, he can count.nice...not that stupid after all). Awak 5 orang jaga!.

Alright. goodnight old man.Sweetdreams.=)Owh yea, after that we all looked down at his car which is always parked in a permanent slot directly below our apartment. There was just 1 miserable tissue on the top of his car and perhaps 2 others just lying at the side.So that was what all the fuss was about.LOL...a tissue on his beloved car.Apparently he thought that his 'favourite neighbours had something to do with it.A few minutes after that, Chua and his roommate came over.News spreads extremely fast in KTT. It was Chua's roommate that threw the tissue paper on PCP's car. Bloody hell, just asking for more trouble only!

So the next morning, the 3 of us( Dhana went back that weekend) were studying in the apartment when Chai appeared at the door asking for his laptop. I just threw the key to him but he was struggling to open it. I went to the door to help him open it. How difficult can opening the lock of a grill be? I failed.OMG! Shawn tried with his key. Also couldn't open.We realised that we were stuck in the apartment now. Apparently, 'someone ' has tampered with the lock and the key could not go in completely.

Shawn called the warden at 11 something and at about 2 pm, En Shurabil came with a huge lock cutter and we were free.wheeee~!!( we had to eat maggi and mee sedap that day because we were trapped in)Joel offered to buy us food though. Thanks Joel.=)PCP destroyed our Solex lock. Total damage caused by him now might be close to RM 100 already. Owh yea,i forgot to mention. Chai kept coming every half an hour to check if his laptop was alright.LOL.

# KTT CF farewell for seniors.
date: 21st November 2008, LH 5

This was the last CF for most of the seniors. I went because of Andrew.I'm sure most of us did because of him too. Was quite sad to see our leader, role model leaving already. He was trully the best senior in KTT without doubt.Pictures...

Us with Andrew.

All of us will definitely miss him.:)

Group Picture...Susu will be proud.

# Final Semester Examination

I will describe all the papers as I always do. They were OK! Just have to wait for the results and see. I also hope that there will be no more mistakes in taking down the marks as last time

LASTLY~!! ...just a shout out to Hidhaya Selvan..HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! (5th December 2008)

STAMFORD BRIDGE BREACHED!!

Stamford Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down...

Stamford Bridge is falling down..bla bla blabla..

Well, the title says it all i guess. 26th October 2008 was a day that many younger Liverpool fans like myself will cherish for a very very long time. We annihilated Chelsea at their home ground where they were unbeaten for 4 YEARS an 8 MONTHS!!(okay..okay, that was an exaggeration) So , Stamford Bridge is a fotress no more. :)

This match was perhaps the biggest match of the season so far as both teams were locked together on the top of the table, still unbeaten after 8 matches. I usually have my own pre-match ritual. Praying, sitting in a lucky spot in the hall of my house. All those kind of things. My hands tend to get cold during big matches but during this game, i was like a normal warm blooded mammal.Probbably due to the fact that my brother bought a Burger King Set meal just minutes before the kick off...so that sort of warmed me up.

Before the match, i watched the pre-match analysis where football pundits and so called football experts predicted the outcome of the match. It was very negative as each and every one of them said that Liverpool were not good enough, blablabla, didn't have Torres, lack strength in depth, balablabla. Alright, time to prove the doubters wrong.

Ok... Straight to the kickoff. I believe Liverpool started the better of the 2 teams, closing down the Chelsea players that got the ball really quickly. 10 minutes into the game, a lucky break for Liverpool. Xabi Alonso's shot somehow got deflected and beat Petr Cech in goal. YESSSS!!! I didn't really celebrate much when the ball went in. It was too early and Chelsea at home were almost unbeatable. After the goal, Liverpool were just defending for the rest of the 1st half. Chelsea rarely threatened Liverpool but they bossed Liverpool around in terms of ball possesion. My dad was starting to criticise Liverpool ( as he always does during matches) but I just turned a deaf ear at all his criticism.

(Liverpool players celebrating after the rather fortunate goal)

First half over, a great relieve for me. Only 45 minutes left but if Liverpool continued to play like they did at the end of the 1st half, it would be just a matter of time for Chelsea to score. Liverpool came out in the second half with more self believe. Whatever Benitez said to the team must have really worked. Gerrard was at the heart of all Liverpool's moves as usual. Kuyt's work rate was immence, Mascherano was awesome, shadowing all the Chelsea attackers and Carragher was the best of the lot... blocking and tackling. Did I mention, Liverpool didn't even have Fernando Torres for the game that day as he was out with a hamstring injury. Awesome stuff! Who says Liverpool are a 2 man team? Midway through the second half, Xabi Alonso came extremely close to doubling Liverpool's lead. arghhh!!! Hit the post!...great freekick anyway, Petr Cech was rooted to the spot.

With 10 minutes remaining, I was starting to feel nervous. I kept on praying so that Liverpool would hold on for a historic victory. Common!!! With 3 minutes to go, i was actually perspiring as if I was the one running on the field at Stamford Bridge. 1 minute to go, Liverpool were still hanging on to the lead. No mistakes pleaseeee!!

Common ref...blow the damn whistle!!

Preet preeeet preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!! (for those of u who don't know, the refree blows the whistle 3 times to signal the end of the game)YESS~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK GOD!! Victory against Chelsea and at Stamford Bridge too.

Liverpool played really well and I can't remember Pepe Reina having a save to make during the game. Credit to Liverpool's strong defence. After the game, I kept on getting sms's from Liverpool fans and also Man U supporters. Historic moment indeed... CHELSEA'S 86 UNBEATEN STREAK AT HOME is OVER!!

Okay, this time I did upload some pictures of the game:).

So, with Liverpool top of the league after 10 games(still 28 games to play), all was well for the fans who have endured 19 long miserable years without the league title. Who knows, maybe after 19 years, Liverpool might win their 19th league title.
NEXT GAME... Totenham vs Liverpool

Personal Milestone

This will be my first ever blog posting, so I figured I would start with something special. Probably one of the very few highlights in KTT.( I guess I have succumbed to peer pressure and finally created my very own blog). Before coming to KTT, I have never touched volleyball.

All of this changed during the fasting month. Normally, i would play football with the Malay guys, but during Ramadhan i had no choice but to play volleyball with all my non- Muslim friends. I have to say, playing volleyball with all of them (mostly tangga 11 residents) ,helped us bond.Anyway..Back to volleyball. The first time I played this game, my hands just couldn't take the impact of the ball. It was red and really painful so I didn’t really enjoy the game at first. The following weeks, i guess all of us got better and we were even playing with the Indian seniors.(we juniors till today have not beaten them).

So, after the Hari Raya holidays, when the Diploma students organised a volleyball competion, Eric had a crazy idea that we all ( relatively still noobs in this sport) created a team. So... we named ourselves Parang Juniors ( after the great and EVIL PAK CIK PARANG).OUR TEAM --->Beh(captain), Eric, me, Selvan , Kelvin, Chua, Shawn, Joel and Prashan.So..

Straight to the action then. Our first game was with some Malay seniors. Our team was quietly confident i guess.Prior to that day, we had thrased those seniors so we all thought it would be easy. Our opponents were first to serve and not long after that, we were trailing 10-0 (there was only one set,the team that reached 21 points won). All of us looked at each other in utter disbelieve. Everyone was making silly mistakes and I guess we were all really nervous. Somehow, we managed to get the serve back at 10-0, but soon lost the point and trailed 13-2. I guess it was all over for us. Surely no way back now. Our opponents soon got quite cocky and were really confident that they would easily win this match.

Can't blame them for thinking that way though, anyone in that position would easily become complacent. This is where the Liverpool comeback spirit came into each and everyone of us that evening. I looked to the side of the court, my goodness; our fans outnumbered our opponent’s fans by 10 to 1 i guess. At least give them something to cheer about ( lol...sounds dramatic). Somehow, our character in the next few points showed and we were definitely not giving up without a fight. At least make them work harder for the victory. We then miraculously caught up to 14-19. Wow!! We do have some chance, Eric and Kelvin were serving well. My serve was not bad either. Beh was great near the net and his setting was awesome. Chua and Selvan found their form at the right time. Suddenly, it was 20-20. YES!!... Our self believe came back. Looking at our opponent’s faces, all of them were just shocked. NEVER EVER LOOK DOWN ON YOUR OPPONENTS!! TAKE THAT!!20 All...so, it was deuce.

I think the first team to reach 23 would win. The seniors got back a point and were leading 21-20. At that point, it was all really tense; all mistakes at that moment would be really costly. We played cautiously. Just letting our opponents make mistakes. Finally, match point. 22-21. WOW!. I can't remember who served. Most probably Eric. When the seniors hit the ball out, we were jumping as if we just won the world cup. I could hear our supporters. Credit to them for not leaving.haha.We didn't shake hands with our opponents that day probably because we were too busy celebrating. I remember Istanbul. The greatest COMEBACK! This would rank close to that.Well, we didn't win the volleyball competition as we lost in the semifinals to Masterbedroom( the Indian seniors team). But, that 1 game, really will be a highlight for most of us in the dull KTT.That’s all for my first post.

I read to much football news and match analysis so pardon me for the very detailed game narration. I don't have pictures at the moment but I will try to take some shots of us playing volleyball. Just for memory's sake. :)
